Purpose of Assignment

​

The purpose of this assignment is to enable the student to discover his or her personal philosophy of nursing, as it exists at the beginning of the academic journey toward the BSN.

 

Approach to Assignment

 

Completing this assignment gave me the opportunity to look within and really think about what nursing means to me and what my role and purpose as a nurse is. I was able to reflect on my values as a nurse, including ethical principles. I discovered that altruism and accountability have held true to my practice since writing this paper almost two years ago. I approached this assignment with real life examples because I believe reflecting on our experiences is how we grow individually and professionally.

 

Reason for Inclusion of this Assignment in the Portfolio

 

This assignment gives a good snapshot of my professional and personal beliefs on both my nursing practice and nursing as a profession. This piece is a thorough and accurate representation of me as a nurse and how I approach my patients. Through this paper, I can be noted as good team player, an advocate for my patients and coworkers alike, and a trusted member of the healthcare team.
