Purpose of Assignment

The purpose is to provide the student with an opportunity to analyze an ethical issue in nursing.

 

Student Approach to Assignment

​

I used a real-life experience in nursing to address this assignment. This assignment reflects my interests in drug use and addiction and what the role of nursing is in similar situations? I learned that the ANA Code of Ethics provides useful guidelines for such scenarios.   I decided to use a scenario I experienced in nursing to practice applying provisions from the ANA Code of Ethics to my practice.

Reason for Inclusion of this Assignment in the Portfolio

            I included this assignment in my portfolio because it reflects an area of interest of mine. The opioid epidemic in America effects everyone. It does not discriminate. Race, age, gender, economic status, anyone can be negatively impacted by addiction. Through this assignment my compassion has grown, and I have learned to check my biases before provided patient care.
