Purpose of Assignment

The purpose of the assignment is to provide the student the opportunity to summarize in detail the development, implementation, and evaluation of an instructional intervention for a specific patient or professional group.

Student Approach to Assignment

​

I approached this assignment by choosing a problem that was occurring on my unit at the time. This assignment reflects my interests in protocols and why they are put in place. I was able to educate coworkers on heparin drip safety, after my director assisted me in obtaining a board room. I approached the assignment this way to take advantage of practicing teaching.

Reason for Inclusion of this Assignment in the Portfolio

            This project is included in my portfolio because it reflects research skills and teaching skills I obtained in the ODU BSN program.  As a student and as a nurse, this project represents my desire to teach nurses how to best treat patients? This project gave me the opportunity to learn that preparing a lecture takes time and practice.
